NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's track & field team saw six conference titles and three meet records broken over the weekend at the CCIW Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
On Friday, three Vikings scored in the javelin, led byÂ
Heather Michalski's second-place toss of 41.94m.Â
Laina Nelson was right behind in third at 40.97, whileÂ
Amelia Miller came in eighth at 34.48m.Â
Cora Heller grabbed a top-five standing in the pole vault after clearing 3.38m to round out the scoring in Friday's field action. In the 3,000m steeplechase,Â
Emma Odle notched a second-place finish with a time of 10:59.22, whileÂ
Ryan Jednachowski wrapped up the night with a sixth-place standing in the 10,000m.Â
On Saturday,
Lina Maatouk saw her first of three conference titles take place in the 1,500m, winning by nearly four seconds with a time of 4:35.23. Just a few events later, the senior set a meet record and won the 800m with a time of 2:10.14. Elsewhere,
McKenzie Reser was the conference champion with a time of 55.10, also good for a conference meet all-time best.
Jordyn Van Santen also scored in the race with a seventh-place finish. Odle earned the top spot int he 5,000m race after clocking a time of 17:53.08.Â
In the 200m, Reser notched another All-Conference performance with her third-place time of 24.09, while
Kira Nelson ended in fifth in the 400m hurdles with a mark of 1:06.74.
Cora Deemer posted an All-CCIW race in the 100m after earning sixth at 12.38, while the 4x100 relay team of
Shakira Wade, Deemer, Reser, and Van Santen placed third.
The Vikings closed out the night on the track with a first-place finish and a new meet record in the 4x400 relay as the team of Deemer, Van Santen, Maatouk, and Reser boasted a time of 3:49.15.
In field events,
Charlotte Frere was the winner in the discus after throwing a distance of 49.83m on her fourth attempt. The winning mark was over four meters further than the second-place finisher. Michalski also scored in the shot put in eighth.
As a team, the Vikings collected 114 points to earn third place overall. The six conference titles are the most since the 2018 outdoor season.
Bridget Wunderlich was named the recipient of the CCIW's RESPECT Award.Â
