ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings women's track & field team saw four event wins at the two-day Meet of Champions over Thursday and Friday.
Charlotte Frere began the successful meet with a first-place finish and school record toss in the discus on Thursday. Frere posted a mark of 52.70m to put her No. 1 in Division III and break her own program record of 50.27m. On the track,
McKenzie Reser set a new meet and school record in the 400m to take first after clocking a time of 55.67. The time is good for eighth-fastest in Division III currently.
Lina Maatouk also secured a school record in the 800m after running a winning time of 2:11.48.
In relays, the team
Cora Deemer, Maatouk,
Jordyn Van Santen, and Reser won the 4x400 race with a time of 3:55.27. The 4x100 team of
Shakira Wade, Reser, Deemer, and Van Santen also saw success with a third-place time of 47.82, good for a season best, second all-time at Augustana, and a top 30 placement nationally at the moment.Â
Elsewhere,
Lauren Oelke notched sixth place in the 100m hurdles after posting a time of 16.08. Deemer also earned a sixth-place standing in the 400m, while
Kira Nelson came in third in the 400m hurdles with a mark of 1:07.19.
Emma Odle finished fifth in the 1,500m with a time of 4:54.04Â In the pole vault event,
Cora Heller came in sixth after clearing 3.45m, which was a season best and put her 59th in Division III.
Liz Hayes was eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.34m.
The Vikings will be back in action next weekend for three meets at Simpson, Drake, and Knox.Â
