PEORIA, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's golf team finished in a tie for second out of 18 teams at the Cougar Spring Invite over the weekend with a total of 608 to sit 32 over par. Augie's second team placed 12th with a total of 639.
Kevin Cortez led the team with a second-place individual finish after shooting even through both rounds. In round one, Cortez shot 76 before scoring 68 on day two to total 144. The sophomore's round two score of 68 tied for the second-best score in Augustana history. Jacob Brokaw hit 149 after two days with round scores of 72 and 77 to place eighth. Sam Evenson notched a top-15 placement after hitting 73 and 78 for a total of 151 to finish 14.
Other scores for Augie were Patrick McGrath (156), Alexandre Thery (157), Adam Soczka (161), Drake Stoudt (163), Luke Petersen (169), Aiden Salcedo (169), and Thomas Fornelli (170).
The Vikings will be back in action on April 4-5 for the IWU Invitational in Normal, Ill.
