GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Tyler Leslie of the Augustana Vikings men's swimming & diving team wrapped up his stay at the NCAA Division III National Championships on Saturday. The junior competed in the 50 free, 200 free, and 100 free over the four-day meet.

"I am extremely proud of all that Tyler has achieved this weekend and this season," said head coach Dan Lloyd. "He represented our program at the highest level with integrity and showed that hard work and dedictation pays off. Getting to the national meet is an accomplishment in itself, but to finish with two lifetime bests and become the first All-American for our program in 39 years is truly remarkable. This is an experience I know he will hold onto and cherish, but will also fuel him and our program moving forward."

On Wednesday, Leslie participated in the 50 freestyle race Wednesday morning, clocking a personal record time of 21.09 to finish in 43rd.

On Thursday, he became the first All-American for the Vikings men's program since Tom Hancock achieved it back during the 1985-86 in the 100 breaststroke. Leslie began the day with a 16th-place finish in the 200 freestyle prelims to make the cut and advance to the finals later in the day. He followed up his 1:38.53 time in the morning with a mark of 1:38.11 during the finals to finish in 12th, good for second-fastest time of his career. His last 50 split was the second-fastest of all 16 swimmers to compete during the night race. Leslie is also the first in program history to earn All-American status in the 200 freestyle event.

Leslie wrapped up his stay on Saturday with a lifetime best time of 45.36 to finish 37th in the 100 freestyle.
