Vikings win multiple events at IWU's Keck Select

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's and women's track & field teams saw four event winners over the weekend at the IWU DIII Keck Select, also boast numerous personal best and top marks in Division III. As a team, Augustana boasted 38 lifetime bests. 

McKenzie Reser set two school records on Saturday, setting a new personal best time of 56.98 in the 400m to place her No. 12 in all over Division III this season. Reser also took second in the 60m after clocking 7.66 to set a lifetime best and put her with the No. 8 fastest time in the event in Division III. She also saw success in the 4x400 relay as her and teammates Lina Maatouk, Cora Deemer, and Shakira Wade posted a time of 3:59.55 to finish in third, good for fifth fastest in program history. The mark currently ranks 20th in Division III and is a season best for the group.

Elsewhere, Maatouk ran a 2:13.69 in the 800m to come in first place, good for a personal best and No. 12 fastest time in the event in Division III. It also ranks her second in Augustana history in the event. Emma Odle finished in sixth place in the 3,000m with a time of 10:21.28. Cora Deemer posted times of 26.48 in the 200m and 7.96 in the 60m, both good for top seven all-time.

In field events, Heather Michalski came in sixth in the weight throw after tossing 14.77m, while also placing fourth in the shot put with a distance of 12.52m. Khaliah Knox placed in the top five in five different pentathlon events, including a fourth-place finish in the 60m hurdles.

On the men's side, Joe Langridge was the winner of the 3,000m with a time of 8:28.71, placing him in the top 75 of all of Division III in the race. AJ Banks came in fifth in the 60m hurdles with a mark of 8.47, putting him third all time in Augie history, while Ben Char earned a fourth-place standing in the 200m at 22.46, good for 10th in the Augustana record book. Jaden Gocken grabbed sixth place in the 5,000 with a personal-best time of 16:31.21, while Joe Gibbons collected a top 10 finish in the mile with a PR of 4:24.29.

Magnus Wells saw success in field events, earning third in the weight throw with a heave of 17.82m, good for a personal best. He also placed sixth in the shot put with a mark of 15.43m. Both of those distances place him in the top 10 in those events all-time in program history. Mike Hudson ended in the top three in seven heptathlon events, which included a first-place standing in the shot put. August Haak also finished in the top five in seven events as well. Hudson's performances places him fourth all-time in Augustana history.

The Vikings will be back in action next Saturday at the SAU Tune Up.
