DUBUQUE, Iowa -- The Augustana Vikings men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Solomon Butler Classic on Friday at Dubuque and saw multiple event winners.
Cora Deemer was the winner of the 60m dash, clocking a time of 7.91 to finish in first.
Lina Maatouk was the top collegiate finisher in the 400m dash with a time of 57.87, while Deemer finished in fourth place in the same event with a mark of 59.95. Maatouk also came in second in the 200m dash at 26.45 and
Shakira Wade finished seventh with a time of 27.12.
Lauren Oelke also earned a top-eight standing in the 400m, also notching fourth place in the 60m hurdles event with a time of 9.71.
Ryan Jednachowski was the champion of the 3,000m run, winning by over eight seconds with a final time of 11:14.23. Augie also saw two of its 4x400 relay teams secure first and second in the event.
In field events,
Heather Michalski collected fourth place in the weight throw with a distance of 15.05m, also grabbing second in the shot put at 13.34m. Four Vikings finished in the top eight in the long jump, with
Carson Kekelik leading the way in third with a mark of 5.06m. The team also saw four finishers in the triple jump, with
Liz Hayes earning second place after posting a distance of 10.69m.
Cora Heller won the pole vault event after clearing 3.46m to move into the Augie top 10 all-time and
Rhiannon Marshall placed second in the high jump with a mark of 1.43m.
For the men,
AJ Banks and
Brayden Veil secured top-four finishes in the 60m hurdles, with Banks posting a second-place time of 8.44.
Joe Gibbons placed second in the one-mile run in 4:22.16, while
Daniel Prochaska clocked a time of 1:59.58 to finish second in the 800m run.
In field events,
Magnus Wells continued his momentum in the weight throw, winning the event with a toss of 18.30m. He also placed third in the shot put with a heave of 15.83m to update his place in the top 10 all-time.
Noah DeMarco and
Dakota Straight tied for fourth in the pole vault after clearing 4.10m.
The teams will be back in action next weekend for the two-day CCIW Championships in Kenosha, Wis.
