DUBUQUE, Iowa – Seniors
Lina Maatouk and
McKenzie Reser capped off the weekend with stellar performances at the MoCo Mercer Challenge on Saturday.
Maatouk, who also competed Friday at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational in Iowa City, set the A.Y. MacDonald Indoor Track facility record and Augustana school record in the 1,000m run, which she led from gun to tape. Maatouk championed the event and her time of 2:56.54 ranks her 17
th all-time in Division III history in the 1,000m run.
Reser championed the 60m dash with a time of 7.82. She was joined in finals by
Cora Deemer who finished runner-up with a time of 8.11, a season best, and
Shakira Wade who finished seventh.
Reser returned to the track for the 300m dash, where she again championed the event. Reser's time of 39.81 sets a new facility record and Augustana school record, while also earning her a third-place all-time ranking in Division III history in the 300m.
Cora Deemer and
Jordyn Van Santen also saw success in the 300m dash. Deemer finished fifth with a time of 43.89, good for ninth place in the Augustana record books. Van Santen finished eighth with a time of 44.67.
In the 60m hurdles,
Khaliah Knox and
Lauren Oelke finished in fifth and sixth, respectively. The 4x400m relay squad of
Riley Kulaga, Kiana Bruer, Deemer, and Wade crossed the line in first place with a time of 4:19.16.
In the field events, freshman
Cora Heller finished second in the pole vault with a vault of 3.20 (10' 6").
Grace Gillespie finished fourth, earning a lifetime best of 2.90 (9' 6 ¼").
In the long jump, Wade was runner-up, with a leap of 4.83 (15' 10 ¼"). She was joined in finals by
Liz Hayes – fifth in 4.50m (14' 9 ¼"),
Carmela Carbone – seventh in 4.46m (14' 7 ½") and
Rachael Linskey – eighth in 4.34m (14' 2 ¾").
Hayes also championed the triple jump with a new indoor lifetime best of 10.28m (33' 8 ¾"). Carbone was runner up with a jump of 10.25m (33' 7 ½").
Heather Michalski,
Bridget Wunderlich, and
Skyler Barber all had top performances in shot put, with Michalski throwing 12.75m (41' 10") for second place, Wunderlich with a toss of 11.57 (37' 11 ½") for fifth place, and Barber with an effort of 11.07 (36' 3 ¾") for eighth place. Wunderlich also found success in the weight throw, earning fifth place with a toss of 12.86m (42' 2").
Charlotte Frere was sixth in the weight throw with a toss of 12.43m (40' 9").
The Vikings will return to competition at the Leonard "Squig" Converse Invitational in Whitewater, Wisconsin on Saturday, February 1.
