DAVENPORT, Iowa – Several Vikings saw success at the Bumble Rumble on Saturday, hosted by St. Ambrose.

Highlighting the meet was a two-time school record performance by senior Heather Michalski in the shot put. Michalski opened up her series with a 13.85m toss which qualified her for finals in the event and moved her to first all-time in Augustana's record book. In the finals, Michalski bettered her prelims mark with a throw of 13.86m (45' 5 ¾"), which broke the school record she set from her first attempt. Michalski's throw overtakes the previous school record of 13.70m (44' 11 ½") set my Marissa Banks in 2008. Sophomore teammate Skyler Barber also found success in the shot put, placing 11th with a throw of 12.03m (39' 5 ¾"), good for ninth all-time at Augustana.
Michalski also placed fifth in the weight throw with a toss of 15.28m (50' 1 ¾"), moving her to third all-time in the event at Augustana.

Across the fieldhouse, Shakira Wade, Carmela Carbone, and Liz Hayes found success in the long jump and triple jump events. Wade placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 5.03m (16' 6"). Carbone and Hayes placed sixth and seventh in the triple jump, respectively, with jumps of 10.04m (32' 11 ¼") and 10.03m (32' 11").

On the track, McKenzie Reser dominated the sprints, taking second in the 60m dash with a time of 7.70 seconds – just one one-hundredth of a second away from her personal best, set in December on the same track. Reser won the 200m dash with a time of 25.38, good for second all-time at Augustana. Reser later returned for the 4x400m relay. The relay team of Cora Deemer, Reser, Jordyn Van Santen, and Lina Maatouk championed the event with a time of 4:03.00, good for ninth all-time in the Augustana record books.

Maatouk also found individual success in the 800m run, where she won the event in a time of 2:16.58 - nearly a personal best.

Along with Deemer, Reser, Van Santen, and Maatouk's win in the 4x400m relay, two additional Viking relay squads placed fourth and sixth in the event. Riley Kulaga, Wade, Carbone, and Emma Odle finished the relay sprint with a time of 4:21.62, while Addi Wessel, Kiana Breuer, Madison Wies, and Marie Weber finished sixth with a time of 4:30.18.

The Vikings will head to the Larry Wieczorek Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa on Friday, January 24 and on Saturday, January 25 at the MoCo Mercer Challenge in Dubuque, Iowa.
