ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Augustana Vikings women's cross country team earned a second-place finish at the annual home Brissman-Lundeen Invitational on Saturday, highlighted by an individual victory by
Emma Odle.
Odle crossed the line in first place with a time of 22:40.2 over 6k, nearly 50 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. This race marks Odle's second win of the season and third race finishing as the top collegiate runner.
Keira Nelson was the Vikings number two, finishing in sixth overall with a time of 24:38.0. The freshman has been a strong addition to the Vikings distance squad, finishing as the team's number two runner in each of her first three competitions.
The remaining top five Vikings included
Ellie DeFarno,
Marie Weber, and
Kenzie Meirhaeghe. DeFarno finished in 15th with a time of 25:25.5, Weber finished in 22nd with a time of 25:57.8. Meirhaeghe crossed the line in 26th with a time of 26:15.1
The Viking women earned a runner-up finish with 65 points, 16 points ahead of CCIW rival Millikin.
Augustana will be back in action next Friday at the DIII Pre-Nationals meet in Terre Haute, Indiana.
