KANSASVILLE, Wis. -- The Augustana Vikings men's and women's golf teams both boasted top 10 finishes over the weekend at the highly-competitive Midwest Region Classic at Brighton Dale Golf Club, with the women earning eighth place out of 33 teams and the men in ninth out of 44 teams.
On the women's side, Sarah Bond led the team with a total score of 161 with round scores of 80 and 81 to finish in a six-way tie for 34th. Georgia Holt followed in a tie for 41st after shooting 81 and 82 for a total of 163, while Kelsey O'Connor finished in a tie for 46th with 164 after hitting round scores of 81 and 83.
Other finishers were Abby Buechele (167), Alexus Morrow (170), Jama Burch (170), and Emma Vander Wall (183).
The Vikings finished with a team score of 652, just six shots behind Trine in seventh.
For the men, Drake Stoudt finished in the top 10 shooting 71 on both days to sit 2-under for a total score of 142 to tie for eighth. Alexandre Thery followed in an 11-way tie for 25th with round scores of 73 for 146. Sam Evenson and Aiden Salcedo tied for 36th with a total of 147.
Other finishers were Kevin Cortez (152), Luke Peterson (154), Adam Soczka (154), Patrick McGrath (155), Jacob Brokaw (159), and Noah Ehlenbach (161).
The Vikings finished with a team score of 587, just three shots behind UW-Stout in eighth.
The women's team takes a short break until October, but the men's team will be back in action on September 26-27 for the Fyre Lake Invitational.
