ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings women's volleyball team will remain home for another mid-week match against the Elmhurst Bluejays on Wednesday, October 11.

The Vikings enter the contest with a 13-4 overall record and 2-2 mark in conference action. The team is currently in the midst of a three-match winning streak following a historic victory last Wednesday at home in five sets over Carthage, their first over the Firebirds since 2003. After trading wins through four sets, the Firebirds held a small lead to begin the fifth and deciding game. The Vikings never trailed after tying the score at 3-3 and taking the lead the following rally. Carthage successfully got within a point at 7-6, but Augie answered with a score and slowly pulled away. Leading 11-9, three straight points put the Vikings at match point, clinching the contest a few rallies later on an attack error from the visitors.

Defense shined in the win for Augustana as four different players notched double-digit digs, led by 18 from Grace Vranicar and 16 from Evey Gervase. Syd Krueger also added six blocks in the middle and had 11 kills on 18 attempts. Jaden Julius and Emily Schipper tied for match-high 17 kills.

Augie is now 6-1 on its home court this season.

Elmhurst currently sits with an 11-5 overall record and 1-2 mark in the CCIW. The Bluejays have lost three out of their last four, including a 3-1 defeat in their most recent outing to Aurora. The team did pick up its first conference win during that span, taking down Carroll by a score of 3-0 last Friday. Elmhurst has winning records both at home and in neutral contests this season, but is 2-3 on the road.

The Bluejays hold a 47-14 advantage in the all-time series against the Vikings and won four in a row in the series. Elmhurst won last season's encounter in four sets.

Start time is scheduled for 7p.m. from inside the Carver Center. Live coverage can be found here.
